Frank Verbakel's presentation will cover the deployment of Design for Six Sigma as a structuring methodology for innovation within the research organisation, addressing the following items:

  • Frank Verbakel Bio + About Frank Verbakel -
    After his Phd in Chemistry at the Eindhoven University of Technology, Frank Verbakel joined Philips Applied Technologies in 2008 and later Philips Research.
    Frank got certified as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt in 2011 and started in 2014 with the co-development of the DfSS program within Philips Research. Since 2016, he has been leading this program, coaching 10+ BB candidates and accrediting Green and Black Belts; and got certified as DfSS Master Black Belt in 2018.
    Frank has 10+ years of experience in development for a wide spread of topics (e.g. Handheld diagnostics, CT-Computed Tomography, Patient monitoring device, Ultrasound devices) as system architect.

    Gillian Groom has a Masters Degree in Probability and Statistics from Sheffield University. For many years Gillian has specialised in Financial Services both in UK and Europe, focusing on the development and use of statistical analyses for the improvement of credit risk decisions. Throughout her career, Gillian has been applying statistical analysis to guide informed management decisions on business opportunities or problems.
    Gillian has joined the Minitab Team as a Trainer since 2014 and comments on her role: “I am excited to have the opportunity to demonstrate how good data analysis together with process knowledge can lead to informed decisions that make a real difference to business performance”.

    Sami joined Minitab in 2000, where he started by developing and increasing his knowledge of the customer needs and challenges through the Technical Support department. Sami then become a Trainer while still providing Technical Support, sharing best practices on problem solving and field applications. Technical Support and Training complement each other, this allows Sami to pay particular attention to the problems that users encounter most often applying problem solving methodologies and analytical techniques, giving these users more confidence in selecting the right methods and tools. Sami has over ten years of experience in training at companies that deploy the Six Sigma methodology and raise awareness and skills around problem solving and process improvement."The trainer position is highly stimulating as it requires constant adaptation to the needs of the individuals and organisations, it gives great exposure to best practices that can benefit Training participants."
