Part I & Part II: Powerful Statistical Tools in the Pharmaceutical Industry
Ming Dong - Technical Specialist | Minitab
Manufacturing pharmaceutical products for consumption requires many decisions to be made from the results of statistical analysis. Using Minitab 19, we will take you through three common challenges faced by pharmaceutical manufacturers, resulting in increased customer satisfaction, reducing operating costs, and increasing profits. How does a quality improvement team monitor injection moulding process changes over time using control charts? How does a quality engineer use capability analysis to measure drug dissolution time to show that a high proportion of tablets can meet a targeted specification? How does a tablet manufacturer use a sampling plan for a final inspection before the product is shipped?

Bots in Botswana: A Black Belt Study
John Adamek - Managing Consultant | The IBT Group
This Black Belt training case study showcases many of the tools and techniques required by the ASQ/IASSC/ISO8404 body of knowledge. Using a corresponding data set, this real-life example emphasises the importance of relying on analysis and practical thinking to determine root causes of various typical business problems, and not to solely rely on subject matter expertise. This presentation will demonstrate how these tools and techniques can be used to solve business problems using the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) framework.
